Kempsville Church of God was faced with a major challenge in that they had an existing building located on an existing site with minimum street frontage. The overall length of the property was approximately 10 times the width and necessitated a design that was linear in layout. The project incorporated a 600-seat sanctuary that was connected by major lobbies to the existing building. The design also incorporated a complete “image enhancement” of the existing building which included color change, new entries and a new metal roof that would tie into the new structure. The master plan which was completed on the project also embraced the existing architecture, the Phase 1, 600-seat sanctuary as well as the future family life center blending all of them into an appropriate design which would enhance their ministry for years to come.
